Hi everybody! Our seminar series starts on Friday Febr. 3, at 2 pm. Our first speaker is Annemarie Borg. Here it is the title and the abstract of her talk:
Title: Explaining Argumentation-Based Conclusions at the Netherlands Police
Abstract: As AI systems are increasingly applied in real-life situations, it is essential that such systems can give explanations that provide insight into the underlying decision models and techniques. Thus, users can understand, trust and validate the system, and experts can verify that the system works as intended. At the Netherlands Police several applications based on computational argumentation are in use, with police analysts and Dutch citizens as possible users. Although such applications are inherently transparent, these are not explainable, especially not to the general public. Together with Floris Bex, I developed a framework to explain argumentation-based conclusions.
In this talk I will present the basic framework for argumentation-based explanations and discuss the benefits of its flexibility. Throughout the talk I will use an example from our application as an illustration.
